The Hitachi articulated dump truck has a greater power-to-weight ratio than other trucks due to its unique structure. Hitacih equip their machines with a more compact and powerful engine than other manufacturers, while producing just as much output as those competitors. By using the compact Mercedes Benz V6 engine to cut down on front size, we are able to use a lighter frame. The result is a high power-to-weight ratio that lets operators produce faster cycle times. What's more, Hitachi's articulated dump truck is also fuel-efficient. Because of the overall lightness, and since it delivers higher torque at lower revs, less fuel is burned. As primary retarders, the EVB (Engine Valve Brake) and exhaust brake allow for simple downhill operation. In addition, the D-series uses the transmission output retarder as its main retarder.
Hitachi is also about safety and comfort: fewer pillars in the operator cabin make for better all-around vision, while clustered controls within easy reach, and diagnostic displays and malfunction warnings provide a safe, easy-to-use, interior.
