On 29 March, three extra-long trucks will embark from Scania in Södertälje, Sweden, to drive in a close convoy to Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The initiative is being driven by the Netherlands, which currently holds the EU Presidency, and aims to fast-track the development of truck convoys. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Ericsson and Scania announced joint research efforts to accelerate the connectivity of commercial vehicles and infrastructure. Ericsson and Scania are convinced that advances in communications technologies and future deployments of 5G networks will enable improvements in the transport of people and cargo.
