Excavator Competition

Propose

The National Excavator Operator Competition has been a stable of the New Zealand construction industry for more than 25 years and as long-time major sponsor, CablePrice, supplies each region with a number of Hitachi excavators for their local rounds along with machines for the National finals

Competitors

On average, each year more than 150 competitors from around the country compete at regional events, all with the eye on making it through to the National finals, held in the Manawatu each March.

The competition is organised by national association Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ), with regional offices managing their own regional event.

National Excavator Operator Competition kick off in June at the National Fieldays, Mystery Creek, Hamilton followed by another 9 regional events around the country.

Real world skills

The competition feature tasks such as tests of ‘real-world’ skills, for example, traversing a trench or lifting and relocating a manhole cover. They can also include crowd-pleasing tests of precision such as uncorking a champagne bottle using an excavator bucket’s teeth or slam dunking a basketball into a two-storey concrete pipe

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mums out there!
Whether you're digging deep to keep the family together or lifting spirits with your unstoppable energy, we appreciate all that you do. We hope your day is as bright and powerful as our construction machinery and trucks!
A big shout out to Christchurch based excavation company DiggerKing on the recent purchase of a new FUSO canter tipper - the only truck in its class with a limited slip diff.

In addition to all the usual contracting duties, Brad and the team will be utilising the advanced safety systems and clean, fuel-efficient engine of FUSO to tow their other recent purchase - a Hitachi ZX17U mini excavator on trailer. What a perfect match!

To show just how proud they are of their new additions, they ran a competition to name them. They decided on BamBam for the Hitachi Excavator and Pebbles for the Fuso truck. Super cool.

Thanks Brad and Hayley Nolan, directors of DiggerKing for all your support.
Fuso Truck proudly sold by Wayne Byrnes and Hitachi mini excavator by Andrew McCoy.
